Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation

Though Nobody can Stop or Rewind the Biological Clock, we can reduce the effects of Aging of face like Wrinkles, Sun Freckels, Loose skin, Loss of fat and Volume, Double Chin, Jowls, Deepening of skin Folds, Loose eyelid Skin, Sagging Eyebrows etc. which nowadays have started to show as early as late 20s and early 30s due to Sun Exposure, Lifestyle, Stress and Dietary Deficiencies. They start around the Eyes First (Crow's Feet), then Involve Forehead (Worry Lines) and rest of the face.

As we age the Good collagen of our skin is replaced by poor collagen and there is loss of elastin too. This leads to the appearance of wrinkles during muscle contraction. These are called Dynamic wrinkles. Slowly with further loss of collagen and elastin, the wrinkles become permanent and are seen at rest too when there is no actual muscle movement. These are called Static Wrinkles. Botox injection is useful in Dynamic wrinkles only. To treat static wrinkles we need either skin tightening as in Surgical face lifts, PRP facelifts, Chemical peels, Dermabrasions, Fractional laser or some kind of Fillers like Hyaluronic acid Fillers or Fat injections.

Following are the Various Modalities of Anti Ageing Treatments available to Rewind your Age-

  • 1) Botox Injections
  • 2) Filler Injection
  • 3) PRP Injections- Vampire Facelift
  • 4) Fat Injections
  • 5) Chemical Peels
  • 6) Fractional Laser
  • 7) HIFU- Focused Ultrasound Therapy
  • 8) Microdermabrasion
  • 9) Hydrafacials

A person usually requires a holistic approach in which one or a combination of any of above procedures is used at different sessions to make him/ her look better and younger.

BOTOX INJECTIONS

Use of BOTOX (Botulinum Toxin Type A) for facial enhancement is currently the most common cosmetic procedure performed all over the world. Injection of BOTOX into the muscle causes paralysis of muscle for a period of 4-6 months.

Botox injections are extremely useful in treatment of Dynamic Facial wrinkles. Following are the different indications of BOTOX injections

1) Glabellar Frown Lines 2) Horizontal Forehead Lines 3) Crow’s feet around eyes 4) Bunny Lines- on the sides of nose 5) Perioral Lines- around Lips 6) Neck bands (Platysmal Bands) 7) Horizontal Neck Lines

Botox injection is avoided in patients allergic to eggs or its products and those having history of previous allergic reaction to Botox.

Botox injection is a Lunch Time procedure where patient is sent back just few minutes after the procedure.

A numbing cream is applied to the face before the injection. Many a times patients do not require even the numbing cream.

Is there any serious complication of Botox injection?

Botox is generally safe and we at Elegance Cosmetic Surgeyr Clinic take utmost care to avoid any such complication. Ptosis ( Fall of upper eyelid) and Diplopia (Double Vision) are the extreme and rarest complications that may occur when Botox is injected around eyes and little amount diffuses around eyes. The condition can be managed with medications and is temporary just like the benmeficial effects of BOTOX.

What is Mesobotox Injection?

This is the latest advancement in Botox wherein multiple small injections of Botox are given just into the dermis of skin of the face. This reduces the oil production by oil glands of face and smoothens and reduces the pores of the skin. Mesobotox is extremely useful in Acne Vulgaris and Large Skin Pores.

What is essential Blepharospasm?

Benign essential blepharospasm (BEB) is a progressive neurological disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions and spasms of the eyelid muscles. It is a form of dystonia, a movement disorder in which muscle contractions cause sustained eyelid closure, twitching or repetitive movements. The condition is Idiopathic and patient is often bothered by the spasm and twitching. Botox Injection can help such patients by paralyzing the muscles around eyes responsible for the twitching.

HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS

Many visible signs of aging can be traced back to volume loss. As facial tissues thin out, lines become etched around the nose & mouth and cheeks look a little hollow. Dermal fillers can replace lost volume to help smoothen out the wrinkles, plump the lips, and restore a more youthful appearance

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is already found in your skin. It helps keep skin plump and hydrated. HA fillers are the most commonly used soft tissue fillers. They are typically soft and gel-like. The results are temporary, lasting 10 to 24 months before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles. Most HA fillers are infused with Lignocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment.

Here are a few of the common issues dermal fillers can help address:

  • Smoothen out lines around nose and mouth (e.g. marionette lines, smile lines)
  • Enhance & Restore volume of Sunken Cheeks or Temples
  • Diminish Vertical Lip Lines
  • Lip Augmentation
  • Smoothen out a Chin Crease
  • Improve symmetry among facial features
  • Slight Alteration in the shape or asymmetry of nose is possible too with Fillers. The procedure is known as Liquid Rhinoplasty

What to Expect During Treatment

Dermal filler injections are non-surgical and typically completed during an office visit. Your initial treatment will begin with a consultation, during which you will meet with your cosmetic surgeon to discuss your concerns and goals.

Pre-treatment consultation

During your consultation, your cosmetic surgeon will evaluate your area of concern and review your medical history. While the risks associated with dermal fillers are minimal, you need to fully disclose your medical history prior to treatment, as certain allergies, skin conditions, or medications can jeopardize your safety or results. For instance, you need to tell your cosmetic surgeon if you have been taking NSAIDs (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) or blood thinners, as these increase the likelihood of bruising.

Your injectable Filler treatment

Just before the actual treatment, the area will be cleaned, and you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area prior to injection. Many filler products also contain lidocaine, a mild anesthetic, which is intended to help minimize discomfort during and after your treatment. Your provider will then inject a precise amount of filler strategically beneath the skin.

Depending on the product and the areas treated, you should be able to notice results immediately after receiving filler injections.

Possible Side Effects

Some patients experience mild bruising and swelling, but these are temporary and should subside over the days following treatment. You will be able to go back to your normal activities right after treatment, but your cosmetic surgeon may ask you to take the day off from exercise or other strenuous activity.

Injectable fillers are usually Precise. Any underfill can be injected again. An overfill can also be corrected with injection of Hyaluronidase that dissolves the Hyaluronic Acid Filler.

Vampire Facelift

The Vampire Facial or Facelift is a procedure which creates Tiny Channels along the skin surface through Microneedling and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is then applied to the skin, allowing the full penetration of PRP deep down into the Dermis. PRP is Prepared by withdrawing a patient’s Blood, processing it to isolate the Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). PRP contains several Potent Growth Factors that stimulate the Healing of Soft Tissues. The Vampire Facial works by making Controlled Micro Injuries in your skin, which your body will then heal while producing Collagen. More collagen means smoother, younger looking skin.

What are the Benefits of Vampire Facelift?

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch Marks
  • Acne & Chicken pox scarring
  • Pigmentation
  • Rejuvenates & firms skin
  • Delivers more youthful appearance
  • Encourages production of collagen and elastin
How Many Treatments Will I Need?

A Vampire Facial with micro-needling treatments can be completed every 4 weeks for a suggested total of 3 times. A maintenance treatment is suggested to be done once every 6-12 months.

Is it Painful?

A numbing cream is applied all over the face before microneedling that makes the process absolutely painless.

What’s the Downtime of Vampire Facial?

The downtime is about 3–5 days. On days 1–3, it may look like you have a sunburn, and your skin may feel tight, dry, swollen, or sensitive to the touch. On days 3–5, your skin should start to return to its normal tone and any swelling should subside.

HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound)

HIFU ( ULTHERAPY) is the Latest Advancement in the field of Non Surgical Facial Rejuvination. It works on the Principal of Targeting the Deeper Layers of Skin with High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. The heat generated causes Controlled injury to only the Deeper Layers of Skin. The Collagen Remodeling will give Tightening and Lifting Effect to the skin of face or any area Treated, decreasing wrinkles, folds and dissolving any excess fat. As top layer of skin is not touched, we do not see any side effects like Pain, Rednessm or Bruising. It is one of the safest modalities to make you Look Younger with hardly any side effects. Its done without any anesthesia. You can go to work few minutes after the Procedure.

Fat Grafting (Injection) in Face

Fat grafting is also called fat transfer, free fat transfer, autologous fat graftingr, micro-lipoinjection, and fat injections. Fat grafting is really two procedures – first the fat is harvested from one part of your body and then it is injected into the treatment area. It is a minimally invasive procedure of facial rejuvenation that comes in between Non Surgical and Surgical Procedures.

This cosmetic procedure can be used to Augment the cheeks or lips, Acne scars and augment the breasts in selected candidates

As an injectable filler, your own fat is almost perfect. It is soft and feels natural, it does not cause immune problems. Fat grafting is an office-based procedure that is usually performed under local or IV anesthesia.

Fractional Laser

Fractional Lasers induce controlled injury to the varying depths of the dermis. The inflammation and healing that follows creates neo collagen that tightens the skin reducing its fine wrinkles, pores, deepened creases and pigmentation spots etc. There are two types of fractional lasers:

  • Ablative Lasers- e.g. Carbon Dioxide Laser
  • Non ablative Lasers- e.g. Erbium Laser

Ablative lasers are harsher on the skin. They injure deeper dermis tissues. The downtime varies from 2-4 weeks. The dead skin peels off in the coming days and is replaced by newer, fresh and tighter skin that has leeser wrinkles, reduce appearance of folds, less pores and we get a glowy, smoother face with less of age and sun spots. Patient needs to be indoor and avoid sun exposure and use ample moisturizers. The rare complication of this laser is increased pigmentation that occurs usually in patients with darker skin complexion. Usually on session per treatment is done and can be repeated every after 2-3 years

Non ablative lasers are devoid of the long downtime of ablative lasers. But are needed to be done more frequently. Usually three sessions are done at 3-4 weekly interval. Patient may experience little redness and swelling for a couple of days but there is no skin peeling off.

Though Ablative Lasers have longer recovery period but they produce better results than non ablative ones. Non Ablative lasers are best suitable to those who can not take long leave from work.

The Lumenis ResurFX is the latest in non-ablative, Fractional Erbium Laser technology to improve skin discoloration, stretch marks, acne scars, wrinkles and more. Non-ablative means it does not destroy or ablate the skin cells, while fractional means it is only affecting a fraction or percentage of the skin. It stimulates the skin to develop collagen without harming or ablating any skin. As collagen increases, the skin looks tighter, more even, and more youthful.

The benefit of the ResurFX is that it is able to get great results with minimal recovery time unlike the CO2 laser, which has several days or more of peeling, crusting and possible swelling after the procedure. The ResurFX requires only one pass over the skin to produce effective results, reducing treatment time. The optimum benefits of ResurFX are obtained with several treatments depending on the condition and desired results.

WHAT CONDITIONS DOES THE RESURFX TREAT?

  • Age spots or sun spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks or striae
  • Hyperpigmentation or discoloration
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Scars from acne or surgery
  • Lax or loose skin

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE RESURFX ROCEDURE?

During a ResurFX laser skin rejuvenation treatment, we typically use a topical anesthetic. Due to the non-ablative nature of the ResurFX laser, most patients find treatments extremely comfortable. Additionally, we use a cooling air device that blows refreshing, cold air on the treated areas for comfort. Treatments can take 20 minutes or more, depending on the size of the targeted area.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE RESURFX PROCEDURE?

After ResurFX laser skin resurfacing, patients generally have recovery time with some redness and swelling after the procedure. Patients can return to their normal activities the day after the procedure. Recovery time is short and relatively comfortable. Redness, swelling, and minor irritation similar to a mild sunburn may develop, but these effects typically subside in just a few days. Sun exposure before and after treatment should be avoided and a sunscreen with SPF of 50 or higher should be worn daily in the days after the procedure. Once completely healed, ensure you wear at least a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher every day to help protect your skin long-term.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

ResurFX is completed as a series of treatments. Because it is a limited downtime procedure, it usually requires multiple treatments for significant and meaningful results. Typically, at least 3-4 treatments about one month apart are necessary to obtain optimum results, although this varies by the individual and their goal.

MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin-related concerns and conditions.

The procedure uses a special applicator with an abrasive surface to gently sand away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it.

Microdermabrasion is considered a safe procedure for most skin types and colors. People might choose to get the procedure if they have the following skin concerns:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation, Age spots and Brown spots
  • Enlarged Pores and Blackheads
  • Acne scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Dull-looking skin complexion
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Melasma

How does Microdermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion is an in-office procedure that usually takes about an hour. A numbing cream is applied on the area to be treated.

During your appointment, you’ll be seated in a reclining chair. A handheld device to gently used to sand away the outer layer of skin in the targeted areas. At the end of the treatment, a moisturizer as well as sunscreen will be applied to your skin.

Side effects of Microdermabrasion

Common side effects of microdermabrasion include mild tenderness, swelling, and redness. These generally go away within a few hours after treatment.

You might be advised to use a moisturizer to minimize dry and flaky skin. Minor bruising may also occur. This is mostly caused by the suction process during the treatment.

What to expect after microdermabrasion

There is little to no downtime after microdermabrasion. You should be able to resume your daily activities immediately.

Keep your skin hydrated and use gentle skin care products. Avoid using topical acne medications for at least one day after treatment. It’s extremely important to protect your skin with sunscreen. Your skin can be more sensitive to the sun in the few weeks after the treatment.

You can expect to see noticeable results immediately after the procedure. The number of microdermabrasion sessions needed will depend on the severity of your skin concerns as well as your expectations.

Your provider will likely design a plan for the initial number of sessions, as well as periodic maintenance treatments.

HYDRAFACIAL

What is a Hydrafacial?

A hydrafacial is one of the most powerful, non-invasive skin resurfacing treatments available today. It combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection that removes dead skin cells and impurities, while simultaneously delivering moisturizing serums into the skin.

How Does a HydraFacial Work Exactly?

The HydraFacial device uses an exfoliating tip paired with suction to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your face. There are three steps of the procedure:

  • 1. Cleanse and Peel
  • 2. Extract and Hydrate
  • 3. Infuse and Protect

Last step involves infusion of Boost serums that reduce pigmentation, Fine Lines, Dull Skin or Enlarged Pores.

The HydraFacial is a treatment that is suitable for all skin tones and requires no downtime. In fact, your complexion will likely look better walking out the door. “Many patients report seeing visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one treatment.
